TEL AVIV, Israel — Gains in all leading indices marked the opening week of December on the
Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE).
The TA-25 index, which rose 3.3% during the week, completed a cumulative
year-to-date increase of 70%. The TA-75 index increased also at the same
rate this week, bringing the cumulative year-to-date return to 143%.
This performance can be attributed to the sharp increase in share prices
of companies involved in the discovery of gas, in two sites off Israels
Mediterranean shore, earlier this year.
The large real estate companies and the major banks shares advanced
5.5%-6%, while the hi-tech index gained this week only 2%.
On December 1st Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) launched a bond index
tracking corporate bonds denominated in New Israeli Shekels (NIS), which
are not linked to the Consumer Price Index (CPI), and bear fixed

> Hazel Stewart (46), right and Howell (50) , are accused of murdering her policeman husband – RUC scenes of crime officer Trevor Buchanan – and the dentist’s wife Lesley, whose bodies were found in a car filled with carbon monoxide fumes in Castlerock, in May 1991.
At the time police believed that the pair had committed suicide, after they were found in a fume filled car.
Stewart has been out on bail since her arrest last January and is now back working.
She was excused from Monday’s court sitting, but District Judge Phillip Mateer told her solicitor that she must attend on the next occasion, on January 4 next year, when a date is expected to be set for a preliminary inquiry.
The family of Mr Buchanan were in court for the hearing and sat close to Stewart’s husband.
The mother of four, last appeared in court back in October.
District Judge Mateer said: “The law requires her to attend, she must appear on the fourth of January.”
Colin Howell (50) also appeared at Monday’s sitting via video link.
He is charged with the murder of his wife and of the former RUC officer, Trevor Buchanan.
He spoke only once during the hearing to say that he understood that his case was being put back for four weeks.
The former dentist, who has been struck off by the British Medical Council, also faces four counts of indecent assault on females and four counts of using Chloroform with intent to commit indecent offences.
Court heard that the murder charges Howell faced have been put back for a month to allow a preliminary inquiry date to be set.
A Crown spokewoman said that enquiries were ongoing in relation to the drugging charges that Howell faces.
